Kate Mulgrew-Honorary Celebrity Chair for Polo Classic 2010

Kate Mulgrew is the “Honorary Celebrity Chair” for The Alzheimer’s Association, Greater New Jersey Chapter’s annual Polo Classic. Polo Classic 2010 will be held on Saturday, June 19, 2010, at the Hillsborough Country Club in Neshanic Station. Complementing the polo match is a full schedule of activities with appeal across all ages: an antique and classic car display, the traditional divot-stomping, hot air balloons (weather-permitting), stilt walkers, balloon artists, a closest-to-the-pin golf contest, plus face painting, pony rides and a trackless train for everyone to ride. Proceeds will help benefit the programs and services the Association provides to the estimated 350,000 New Jersey individuals and their care partners who are affected by Alzheimer’s disease.

Please come out for an afternoon of fun and support The Alzheimer’s Association. Kate Mulgrew has NOT yet confirmed that she will be able to attend this event, although she intends to try to make it!  Please continue to check Totally Kate for updates.

Holiday Gift for Kate!

Fans frequently ask me if there is something they can give Kate Mulgrew to acknowledge her birthday, send her holiday greetings, or just thank her for the enjoyment her work has brought them. So with the holidays approaching here’s a suggestion for a gift Kate will truly appreciate.

As most of you are aware, Kate has become a champion for public education and research related to Alzheimer’s prevention and cure. Kate is involved in Alzheimer’s prevention research being performed by Dr. Karen Hsiao Ashe at The N. Bud Grossman Center for Memory Research & Care at the University of Minnesota. In fact she recently delivered the keynote speech at the Minnesota Medical Foundation’s Annual dinner.

Kate feels passionately about this organization and Dr. Ashe’s research and hopes a cure, through prevention, can soon be found for Alzheimer’s. But as she made clear in her recent opinion piece published on CNN.com, funds need to be raised for this research.

The Minnesota Medical Foundation has added an option to their website whereby donations can be made in honor of Kate and she will be notified of these gifts by the MMF. You may also include a short personalized note to Kate with each donation.

Kate’s fans have always been generous as well as passionate, and she is delighted to know that this project has been initiated. Any and all donations will be greatly appreciated and will help University of Minnesota researchers discover ways to eliminate the suffering Alzheimer’s disease causes individuals and their families.

To make a donation to the Alzheimer’s Disease Research Fund at MMF in honor of Kate please go to:

Thank you!
